Santee Cooper Powers Salute Videos as Title Sponsor

Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s state-owned electric and water utility, is serving as a 2008 Salute to Manufacturing title sponsor. As the power provider to more than 1.8 million Palmetto state residents, Santee Cooper recognizes the value and importance of the state’s manufacturing sector in a vital economy. The company’s communications team will create presentation videos highlighting the successes of this year’s Silver Crescent Award winners. The videos will provide luncheon attendees with an in-depth look at the day-to-day operations of these remarkable businesses.

“We appreciate Santee Cooper’s commitment to the Silver Crescent Awards,” SCF president Tony Smith said. “Having Santee Cooper’s production team head this up is a tremendous asset.”

SCRA Joins SCF to Engage Students

Acknowledging the vital role today’s students will fulfill in tomorrow’s economy, the South Carolina Research Authority joins Automation Engineering Corporation and CPM Federal Credit Union to engage students to learn more about manufacturing in South Carolina as a title sponsor for the South Carolina Design Challenge. SCRA is committed to cultivating the economic development of the state and has a special interest in building the workforce of the future.

Currently, entries for the South Carolina Design Challenge are being collected by the local Regional Education Centers. These entries will be judged at the local level and area winners will be submitted to the Silver Crescent Foundation for statewide judging.

Of particular note this year, the placemat is being replaced with a calendar that will feature all area first place winners from the 12 Regional Education Centers. Sponsors are still being sought in several areas around the state. To sponsor the student design in your area, contact shalsey@scfusa.org. Sponsorship of the calendar will place your logo on the month featuring the design from your area.
