Nominations Are Open for the 2008 Silver Crescent Awards |
|
| |
Applications for the seventh annual South Carolina Silver Crescent Awards for Manufacturing Excellence are now being accepted. With nearly 5,000 manufacturers serving as the lifeblood of South Carolina’s economy, the Silver Crescent Awards for Manufacturing Excellence recognize the best and brightest of our corporate citizens. The awards honor outstanding small, medium and large manufacturers and promote the importance of manufacturing to our standard of living and quality of life in the Palmetto State, while increasing awareness of the importance of manufacturing among the general public. To be eligible, nominees must have been in business in South Carolina for at least three years, as of May 1, 2008. Awards are presented in three categories—small, medium and large manufacturers—as determined by the number of employees. Anyone may nominate a manufacturer, including employees, community leaders and volunteers. Nomination applications may be completed at http://www.salutetomanufacturing.org/nominate.asp no later than March 3, 2008, for presentation to the award selection committee. |

2008 Salute to Manufacturing Luncheon Moves to Columbia |
|
| |
For the first time in its 13-year history, the Salute to Manufacturing luncheon will be held in Columbia rather than Greenville, beginning an annual rotation to locations throughout the state. The 2008 luncheon will be May 5, 2008, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Sponsored by the Silver Crescent Foundation, the event celebrates the vitality of manufacturing in South Carolina and promotes careers in engineering and manufacturing for young people in the state. The highlight of the luncheon event each year is the presentation of the Silver Crescent Awards to outstanding small, medium, and large manufacturing companies from throughout the state, and recognition of student finalists in the S.C. Design Challenge. Each year, more than 400 leaders in business, government and education attend the event. For additional information, please visit www.salutetomanufacturing.org. |
